Information Assurance Specialists – IAS/1/07

Do you have recent or current specialist technical experience of working in the Information Assurance (IA) field?

If so, CESG may be interested in hearing from you.

CESG, part of GCHQ, is the UK's National Technical Authority (NTA) for IA and is responsible for protecting and promoting the vital interests of the UK by providing advice and assistance on the security of communications and electronic data. The NTA is now looking to recruit experienced technical personnel for working in teams or as team leaders in the following areas:

Project Management
Using your professional project management skills and experience you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of requirements specified by a wide range of customers. This is an excellent opportunity to take the lead on challenging work to deliver Information Assurance solutions.

Systems Engineers
You will be responsible for influencing system requirements, procurement/development and deployment from the earliest stages of stimulating and challenging major projects.

Microelectronics Engineers
You would be responsible for leading small teams; evaluations of digital Integrated Circuits (working with other parts of CESG); research to support evaluations and development work and training and coaching microelectronics engineers.

RF Engineers
You would be responsible for providing a Research, Development and Consultancy service in Electromagnetic vulnerability in support of CESG policy, civilian and military consultancy, advice and training in order to protect HMG's communications from security weaknesses caused by electromagnetic vulnerabilities.

Technical Consultant for Information Assurance Evaluations
You will be responsible for working with Government Departments and developers to understand the threats and risks to a product or system and scoping evaluations accordingly.

Penetration Testing
Using your technical abilities you will assess the level of competence provided by an information assurance service to assess the robustness of a system, product or technology to Information and Communications Technology attack.

Intrusion Detection
You will be responsible for researching and applying the latest techniques to identify and analyse attacks against HMG and the UK Critical National Infrastructure. Current areas of research include malicious code, real-time network analysis, digital media, forensics, host analysis and honeynet technologies.

Vulnerabilites
You will be responsible for identifying security risks and develop effective countermeasures or mitigation strategies on specialised cutting edge technologies. You will use your technical ability to utilise current tools and techniques to detect potential breaches of security policy.

Incident response
You will be responsible for analysis of network computer incidents, providing 1st and 2nd line support to Government and CNI networks including log analysis, denial of service, resolving data loss and Malware attacks etc.

Software Engineers
You will be a flexible resource willing to work on your own and as part of a team on a range of technical projects with experience of the full software lifecycle, programming languages specifically OO, Java or C++.

Cryptographic Consultant

You will be responsible for analysing cryptographic products and systems, including consultancy and advice at the design stage and evaluation of the final product, so as to discover and address any vulnerabilities, including in the software or network configuration.

Information Assurance Consultant
You will be responsible for the interpretation and application of national IA policy to HMG communications and IT systems.

To maintain and develop its status as NTA, CESG places a strong emphasis on training and development. New entrants will be provided with the opportunity to have up to 10 weeks of training in technology and information security subjects. Structured career development then takes over with opportunities available for sponsored further education, attendance at international conferences and seminars and technical mentoring.
