This Index provides details of all current BWG Management Summaries.

The UK Biometric Working Group has produced a number of short Management Summaries to introduce various topics relevant to the use of Biometric authentication systems. Many of these are introductions to other lengthier documents.

The following list shows all Management Summaries produced to date. Clicking on the link will take you to the corresponding paper.

03 Biometric Product Selection     Summary of the factors that need to be considered before selecting a biometric product or system for installation into a working environment. The advice should also be considered before making a feasibility study, or pilot study, or even before deciding whether a biometric method is appropriate.


04 Security Issues     Some obvious, and not so obvious, considerations involved with using biometrics for security purposes.


05 Legal Issues     Biometric systems in the UK must be implemented in conformance with the Data Protection Act and other relevant legislation.

The UK Biometric Working Group, managed by CESG, supports the UK government and provides advice and information about the implementation and use of biometric authentication systems.
